No primary needs
Life for many children in Peru is hard. Nearly a quarter of the 30 million population lives below the poverty line. Many parents often do not know how to provide their children with basic necessities of life. For many children, a breakfast or hot meal is therefore not a matter of course. Because they lack these important basics, there is often no hopeful future. Pan de Vida is happy to change this.
Our solution
Children’s restaurants
More than 40 children’s restaurants have been set up in recent years to help families. Children with empty stomachs are less able to concentrate in school. Besides making sure the meal is nutritious, we also make sure it is healthy and prepared hygienically. The children are often given another piece of fruit or bread to take to school. In addition to the meal at Pan de Vida, we also pray with them. We tell them that they are important and of great value in God’s eyes.
Pan de Vida’s children’s restaurants are set up in cooperation with local churches. They know the need in their area best and guarantee long-term cooperation. On a daily basis, the staff have contact with the children through the children’s restaurant and the whole family is reached through home visits.
